Where do you want to be putting your energy today?
This is a good question to ask yourself each day. I find that when I jump right into my day, it can be easy to get swept up in the busyness and chaos of it all. If I can take some time to set a kind of intention for my day and be thoughtful about where my energy is being spent, then I don't spend all day just reacting to outside forces. Instead, I actually get to carve the path I want for my day.
I've been asking a question here each day. I hope that some of them have felt relevant to you or sparked something within you. But maybe the things that have been resonating with me lately aren't exactly the same as what has been on your mind lately. I want today to be a chance to ask your own question of yourself.
Where you put your energy could include...
What kinds of things are you thinking about?
What kinds of activities are you doing?
How are you spending your time?
What are you feeling today?
Let your own experiences help answer this question for you. How did you spend your energy yesterday? The day before? The month before? The year before? How did that feel? Did that serve you? Was it productive? Are you happy with how you spent your energy? What would you do differently if you could?
We have the ability to reflect and look back so that we can learn and use the knowledge to make different choices in the future.
We can't always be so protective of our energy that we never find ourselves reacting to things. But I think the refrain of Stories Lived. Stories Told. is becoming:
WE DO HAVE CHOICES!
Maybe not all the choices. But always some. Like maybe there is one moment in your really crazy day where you take a moment to pause, take a deep breath, and check in with yourself about your energy.
If you were the one coming up with "Mindful Moments" each day, what would you be asking yourself?
